Greetings!
This is a repeat of a post sent last month (with modifications), but time is
growing closer and it was suggested that a re-send might be a good idea.
On-line pre-reg closes 15 June, and mail-in reg closes 15 May. Yes, objects
in the mirror are closer than they appear (95 days to Land Grab -- do YOU
have enough garb?)...
If you are interested in camping with the “Caer Adamant” encampment at
Pennsic, please read the following before registering. Note that this encampment
is not a Shire sponsored encampment. Affiliation is in name only.
If you are camping elsewhere, have fun! (and hit "delete" now)
Pennsic XXXVI (2007) "Caer Adamant " Encampment Rules --
borrowed/gathered/gleaned from a number of sources.
The Coopers require all campers to have permission from the group’s Land
Agent prior to registering. If you don't let the Land Agent (Hedewigis) know in
writing (paper or e-mail), and don't receive a written (again, paper or
e-mail) positive response, then you may not camp with us. A verbal exchange is not
sufficient. Please do not register first and ask permission later. It is not
fair to those who follow the rules.
1. All camp members are expected to join the Caer Adamant Pennsic Yahoo!
group. This is our primary means of communication. (Go to the Caer-Adamant
website and click on "e-mail lists")
2. Once settled, all camp members are expected to wear a reasonable attempt
at “Period” clothing while in camp.
3. Everyone will have an opportunity to fill and light the communal tiki
torches, clean up the fire pit and common areas, and take trash to the
dumpster. The camp fee pays for supplies, not service.
4. Fires (in the fire pit) must be attended at all times. Fires in tents
are frowned upon.
5. Clean up after yourself. To avoid the appearance of issuing an open
invitation to local mammalian residents, please clean dishes and secure trash
and food. That said, cleaning up the morning after a party is perfectly
understandable.
6. NO SMOKING IN THE PORTA-JOHNS! <sorry for the yell>
7. No whining. No psycho-drama. This is our holiday. Be happy!
8. If in doubt, Camp Daddy Padraig has the final word.
Camp fee/tax has yet to be determined. This year we are planning to have a
Culligan water-softening system, which will make it unnecessary for camp
members to purchase bottled water (this system makes even Pennsic water
wonderful). Sorry, we still won’t have ice-making capability.
As more campers join us, our space will become tighter. We have enjoyed a
fairly open encampment in the past, but that might change. Be aware we may each
be required to give up 15% or more of our 250 square foot allotment to
accommodate fire pit, walking/driving lanes, water point and showers, etc. This is
a common occurrence throughout Pennsic encampments. Time will tell.
Final note – our site enjoys a fair amount of shade, but with that comfort
comes uneven terrain. Understand that your tent location will likely have
bumps, dips, stumps, and tilts. Additionally, while we will do our best to
eradicate poison ivy, we can not guarantee your location will be poison ivy free.
 In other words, come prepared!
In service,
~ Hedewigis.
