Greetings, All!
The work week flies by and the weekend fast approaches! First, let me remind all and sundry that set-up work will be taking place on-site tonight and tomorrow evening. Please refer to Kael's previous message for details.

For the people who make cool stuff - remember that there is an A&S display on Sunday! Bring something to show! It need not be completed, or accompanied by 50 pages of documentation. Or, just bring yourself - to see what others have done, or just to chat. Anyone who wishes is invited to bring small tokens to show their appreciation to the artists. The display will end with a tea (yes, I believe in bribery!) and social hour. Anyone interested in the arts and sciences is welcome to come, chat, make friends, and have a yummy snack!

Below is a tentative schedule of classes. Please note that some times may change, if needed.

May the Norse be with You!
  Susanna

Children of all ages are welcome to make a simple necklace in the Viking style. Limit 10, fee $1 each to cover glass beads.

Viking Clothing Overview/Discussion - Mistress Anne Liese Wolkenhaar
You might think that since there are so many Viking Re-enactor groups and Vikings in the SCA that making Viking clothing should be an open and shut case. But there are still so many unknowns that it's very difficult to piece together everything the Vikings wore. This class/discussion will review the extant garments from the Viking age along with other evidence for what articles of clothing were worn at various times and places in the Viking era. Bring your own examples!

Top Whorl Drop Spindle Spinning - Lady Sof'ia Zhirinskaia
Learn all the basics of spinning on a top whorl drop spindle as well as the history of top whorl drop spinning. Handout fee $1. Materials fee ($3) covers spindle, wool and handouts; enough kits for 10 people

Basic Viking Wire Knitting - Myrun Aeggirsdottir
Make a complete necklace with this unusual technique. Class materials for 8 people, although more are welcome to bring their own supplies or share. Kit is $4, with drawing boards available for an additional $5.

Beginning Doumbek - Lady Serena vonWeldick
Learn how to hold the doumbek and play basic rhythms. Handouts available. Bring a drum if you have one! (Teacher has only one drum to be shared.)
